Privacy Policy

Last updated October 23, 2026

This policy explains what information Chess Home (https://mychesscoach.org) collects, why, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Account information you provide: username, email address, password (stored hashed), and optional profile details such as country, rating, and linked Lichess or Chess.com usernames.
  • Content you post: comments, group posts, messages, event corrections, and ratings you add to an event's community field.
  • Activity: RSVPs, puzzle attempts and points, and basic page-view counts for events.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type and pages visited, used for security, rate limiting and analytics.

How we use it

To run the site, show you relevant events and players, award puzzle points, send notifications you opt into, prevent abuse, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and remember preferences. Third parties (below) may also set cookies.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners use cookies β€” including the DoubleClick cookie β€” to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. To learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), ads are personalised only with your consent.

Other services we use

  • Lichess and Chess.com public APIs β€” to look up a rating or puzzle rating you ask us to look up, and to fetch puzzles.
  • Chess-Results β€” public tournament player lists, used to compute seeding estimates.
  • Google Maps embeds on event pages with a precise venue.
  • Amazon Web Services β€” hosting and email delivery.
